Fence up, phones down

With winter behind us, we are officially moving into construction season. From now until fall 2019, Dundas Street, between Richmond and Wellington, will be closed to all vehicle traffic. This also includes the closure of the intersection of Clarence & Dundas for the whole duration of the project. Remember, access to the parking lots on Clarence Street will be maintained, just please keep an eye out for moving equipment!

On Monday, construction fencing went back up, which means we all have to be a little more careful when walking down any one of these blocks. Remember to keep your head up - don't be a distracted walker. Try your best to avoid texting on your phone while walking and take in your surroundings.

With the fencing comes 10 new Pedestrian Navigation Signs. The signs are almost twice as large this year and located at all corners of the construction and mid-block crossings.

What Pedestrian Navigation Signs show you:

  • Temporary sidewalk closure locations

  • Mid-block crossing locations

  • Local business locations

If you notice anything missing on the maps, or if a new business pops up, please give us a shout and we'd be happy to keep them up to date so everyone can find you easily.

What you won't see this year is large amounts of dark green mesh screening on the construction fencing. After hearing your feedback, we decided to forego the green screens for 2019. We hope this creates a brighter space that feels less claustrophobic and improves visibility for everyone. On occasion, a small section of temporary screening may be installed to control dust, but that's it.

Support Local Businesses During Construction

A huge shout out to all of the businesses who have been sharing the news about construction on their social media feeds. This is a great way to keep all of your friends, family, customers and visitors informed so they can plan ahead, or choose to bring someone with them if they need a little help getting around. We've linked a sample below:
