Comic books and construction

At the beginning of the week, you may have noticed a few things go missing on Dundas Place, between Ridout and Richmond. All of the red tree planters have been removed to make room for the new ones coming in some time next week. The concrete work also continued on the sidewalks and on the larger planters near the court house.

The crew advanced the watermain installation (the main, large water pipe) between Richmond Street and Clarence Street enabling them to begin the actual water service installation (the smaller pipes that connect the buildings to the main watermain). All of the newly installed pipes will need to be tested before the final connection is made. I'd say we're about half way through the watermain installation process.

As promised on last week's blog post, the crew has placed new asphalt at the crosswalks at Wellington and Dundas. In addition to the crosswalks being reopened, the (left) turning lane has also been reopened to southbound traffic using Wellington Street.

Starting next week, Dundas Place between Talbot Street and Richmond Street will be closed to vehicle traffic to complete some important finishing touches, investigations and repairs. The work will include a range of activities such as tree plantings, brick work and line painting. Pedestrians and cyclists won't be affected by this work but, due to the increase of construction activity, do keep an eye out as you navigate Dundas Place.
