A Change of Scenery in the Construction Zone
We have concrete! After working over the weekend for the last little while, crews were able to start placing concrete late this week. Concrete going down indicates that all under ground pipe work is complete and means less dust! There's lots of surface work ahead, but this is definitely a milestone worth celebrating.
Over at Market Lane, crews started pouring concrete for the curbs and crews will continue grading the area to make way for more concrete next week.
Starting next week, the contractor may begin removing sections of sidewalk between Richmond Street and Clarence Street. All access to businesses will be maintained, but navigating through the site might be a little confusing. We'll keep our pedestrian navigation maps to up date but below are a few tips to consider, as a visitor, once we start work on the sidewalks:
Call your destination in advance
Check your destination's social media feeds
Look for temporary access signs posted by businesses (sample below)
Consider bringing a friend to help you navigate
Bye Bye, Cigarette Butts!
It's incredibly important that we keep our construction zone as clean as possible. We were having a hard time keeping up with the amount of cigarette butts being accumulated so based on this, and your suggestions, we've installed eight new cigarette butt containers between Richmond and Wellington.
Head to Dundas Place, between Ridout Street and Talbot Street, for Taco Fest on Sunday, August 25 from 12 to 7 p.m. There, you'll find 17 taco vendors, a Lucha Libre (wrestlers) Spicy Taco Contest and lots of yummy beverages.
