Paving progress, painting and new winter planters
Things were really moving along this week. Let me start with Market Lane; new garbage bins and street lights were installed, plus the bike racks are back!
East of Richmond Street, the crew started installing the cube seating and new sign posts. You'll also see that trees were planted towards Wellington Street while other elements, such as garbage bins, bike corrals, tree grates, etc., were added throughout the work zone.
We saw the most change at the intersection of Clarence and Dundas Streets this week. The crew was busy paving, painting and installing traffic signals here. We look forward to re-opening this intersection very soon!
As we've mentioned before, the Clarence Street intersection was designed to be paved with regular asphalt in order to provide easier access to utilities in the future.
Brick work is ongoing and crews will be working on Saturday to keep that momentum going.
Over on the first half of the flex street, Downtown London has added these new planters which really make the streetscape pop!
A Holiday Detour
We've all endured a lot of construction this year so on November 29, Downtown London has organized a holiday-themed detour you’ll actually enjoy! There will be free treats, live music, photo booths, special in-store promotions and a holiday market in our very own Market Lane!
The Holiday Detour is being held in conjunction with the Lighting of the Lights in Victoria Park (6:15 p.m.) and the CP Holiday Train (8:15 p.m.) stopping on Richmond at Piccadilly Street. Whether you are looking to check some names off your holiday shopping list, take some new photos for Instagram, or just a great night out, there will be something for everyone! Let the signs, sounds of carolers and the festive activities guide you through London’s core area. Thanks for spending time in the core year-round, and especially this holiday season!
